My Spring 2022 Virtual Races

I’ve got some seriously itchy feet. I wanna get outside. I wanna get trainin’. I wanna race.

I just gotta decide what my goal race will be for 2022.* Will it be cycling? Race walking? Power walking? A return to triathlon? Choosing what to do will determine my training plans and “B Races.” Those events help me track my progress, and keep me motivated when the Vegas heat cranks up. I’ll also prepare a budget, because, dagnabit, I haven’t won the lottery yet.

To get me started, I signed up for these two virtual running/walking events last month. Love to have you follow me on this journey (better yet, join me!):

A Salmon’s Tale – Feb 1 – March 31

Imagine you’re a freshly hatched baby salmon (called “alevin”) in a river in Western Washington. Now you make your way to the Skagit River then swim across Puget Sound to reach the Pacific Ocean. In real life, you can walk, run, bike, or use a treadmill to cover 80, 140, or 200 miles. Track the journey via the Gravlax app, donate to the Long Live the Kings wild salmon restoration organization, and have access to the event’s Facebook group. Pretty cool, uh?

Though I may not hit the 80-mile cumulative mark (unless I quit walking and use my road bike), I have already gotten more miles in than if I *hadn’t* signed up it. A win-win!

There’s still time to sign up if you’d like to join me. Go to www.ASalmonsTale.com (and check out the swag, too. I want that medal!).

Goddess Run – June 4 Live & All Month Virtually

Back in 2014 I did this race with my BFF Nora in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia. We had so much fun walking the 5K together, and received so many encouraging cheers, shout outs, and gestures from other “Goddesses” and spectators. Speed is not the objective – what’s important is that you keep moving forward, one step at a time (it’s what we Divas believe in, too). Plus, the swag and goodies are just so cool!

Join me on Saturday, June 4 as I live stream my virtual 5K from Las Vegas on the Slowpoke Divas’ Facebook page and the Slowpoke Divas TV channel on YouTube. Stay tuned for more details.

I’d love it if you joined me from wherever you are, too! Go to www.GoddessRun.ca for live and virtual race details. During the registration process, you’ll have the option of joining Team Slowpoke Divas.

Love to know if you opt to sign up – we can support each other as we train our events (you might opt for the 10K, too!).

NOTE: I’m not an affiliate for the Goddess Run or A Salmon’s Tale, nor will I receive any remuneration from this post or your registration(s). This is simply something we Divas can experience together, have some fun, and improve our fitness at the same time.

As always, check with your healthcare provider before signing up for these events to ensure they’re right for you.

*Knowing full well that my best-laid plans may go awry due to circumstances and events beyond my control.
