Who’s Up for a 2020 Road Bike Ride in Southern Utah?

UPDATE: Mesquite Madness rescheduled to November 14, 2020 due to COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Right after my cycling and walking races at the Nevada Senior Games and Huntsman World Senior Games, I took time off to recharge and catch up on other aspects of life. Though I didn’t keep to a structured training or fitness schedule, I did stay active. Climbing ladders, chasing down wayward tools, and crisscrossing home improvement stores for supplies and solutions are simply different forms of exercise (and creative fun!).

But I’m itching to get back on my two-wheeled steed, and seeing the 2020 dates of the Ride Southern Utah road bike tour series has me stoked! Who would like to join me for one of these rides? The 30+ and 35-mile routes are my “goal” distances — meaning that I want to successfully complete them (30+ miles would be my farthest distance to date). Want to ride farther? No problem! We’ll simply ride as far as our routes take us, cheer our friends across the finish line, and gather for a post-race celebration at a nearby restaurant.

Bike rides are always better with good friends!

Last year, my best cycling pal Kim and I rode the 35-mile Fall Tour de St. George course together…well, until about mile 17 when I had to quit because my bike developed a serious shifting problem. I met Kim shortly after she crossed the finish line. We then enjoyed post-race refreshments with her hubby, before devouring a delicious lunch at George’s Restaurant, a short two blocks from the ride’s finish line festival.

Let me know if you’d like to join me. The more the merrier! Plus, more riders could mean a group discount for registration. That means more moola for a tasty post-ride lunch.

Wouldn’t that be awesome!
