Go Speedy Divas – A New Start

Go Speedy Divas was launched as a trial project in 2019. I wanted to highlight the achievements of female pro athletes and serious amateurs in cycling, competitive walking, and triathlon. The website recapped stories with links to full coverage reports, posted schedules of women’s races and events, and published full women’s race results.

I started Go Speedy Divas because of what I felt was the utter lack of media and online coverage of these women, ESPECIALLY for those over age 30. That year I was also super-stoked as I trained for and participated in the 2019 National Senior Games in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Nevada Senior Games here in Las Vegas, and the Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah. All that enthusiasm had me posting A LOT about training, races, and results.

By 2021, I felt the true nature of Slowpoke Divas — the living a healthy, active lifestyle — was getting pushed aside. Several of you Divas noticed that as well.

As the sole creative force behind both endeavors, I knew I had to make a choice and prioritize one over the other. Because, you know, life keeps happening while we make other plans.

But I couldn’t just toss Go Speedy Divas into the digital trash bin. Some of you Slowpoke Divas were becoming Speedy Divas — much to your astonishment and delight. Why would I not want to celebrate that with you?

Go Speedy Divas: The Concept Continues

So instead of having a stand-along website, I moved Go Speedy Divas here and, because times do change, the content will start afresh.

What Go Speedy Divas focuses on:

  • The focus is on a woman’s personal achievement in sport — no matter her age or ability level — thus empowering all women to determine what athletic success means to them,
  • Recognizing and acknowledging that every woman has a competitive spirit, and that it’s up to her how she wants to express and experience that spirit,
  • Encouraging women of all ages and abilities to become the athlete she wants to be and not according to society’s definition,
  • Providing race information and results in a easy-to-use format that women and their coaches can use for motivation and in training programs for specific races or larger goals.
  • The sports:
    • Cycling — road, gravel, and mountain biking.
    • Triathlon — from sprint to the Olympics and IRONMAN® races
    • Race walking — USA Track & Field-sanctioned events, senior games, and the Olympics (focusing on American and Canadian female walkers)
    • Power walking — a sport offered in the senior games universe where participants must at least 50 years of age.

Look for stories I write about a Speedy Diva or an event here (from time to time).

Cool things I find on the Web will be shared on the Go Speedy Divas’ Facebook page or on its Threads account (more frequently).

I hope you’ll enjoy this new start! As always, let me know what you think. I hope to hear from you.
