Looking to try a triathlon with either a challenging course or perfect autumn weather…or both? Then sign up now for this Saturday’s Pumpkinman Triathlon, a favorite of Las Vegas’ triathletes and of mine. The event is capped at 1,200 athletes.

Produced by Colorado-based BBSC Endurance Sports, LLC, the triathlon features sprint and Olympic distances. The point-to-point race starts with an open water lake swim at Boulder Beach special events area at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The bike course is both scenic and challenging due to the climb into Boulder City. The run course starts and ends at Wilbur Square in the historic downtown area.

The event also includes a sprint distance duathlon (5K run, 12.4-mile bike, 5K run), a 10K run, and a 5K run. Teams of three participants are welcome for the triathlons and duathlon.

I’m racewalking the 5K. See you out there!
