The Americas Masters Games will debut Aug. 27 – Sept. 4, 2016 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Registration is now open; however, as of Dec. 19, 2015, the events schedule has not been posted on the website.
The Olympic-style competition features 28 individual and team sports that are open to athletes over of the age of 30 and of all abilities and skill levels. Each sport will have multiple age groups and, depending upon the sport, competition categories.

The Americas Masters Games is being organized by Sport BC, the province’s nonprofit sports federation representing over 60 provincial sports organizations in British Columbia, with the support of the City of Vancouver, Vancouver Hotel Destination Association, BC Pavilion Corporation, and Tourism Vancouver. Local sport organizations will be delivering the field of play and competition details for their sport.
The Americas Masters Games is the newest international competition by the International Masters Games Association (IMGA), the governing association of the Masters Games movement. The organization also produces these international events:
- 2015 European Masters Games in Nice, France
- World Masters Games 2017 in Aukland, New Zealand
- World Masters Games 2021 in Kansai, Japan
