Mesquite Senior Games Ends Road Races

June 26, 2015 By Bonnie Parrish-Kell

Mesquite Senior Games color logoOrganizers of the Mesquite Senior Games announced today the road running races have been discontinued.

“Thank you for supporting our road races,” said Gary Culver, director of track and field and the road running races in the emailed announcement. “Unfortunately turnout for the (last) three years we offered the event has been disappointing and the events have been discontinued.”

However, runners and walkers over age 50 can still compete in the track events that include running races from 50 meters to 5,000 meters and the race walk and power walks races from 400 meters to 5,000 meters.

The Mesquite Senior Games is held in Mesquite, Nevada, about 90 minutes northeast from Las Vegas and 30 minutes west from St. George, Utah. Go to www.VisitMesquite.com for more information about this active community.

The dates for the 2016 Games have not yet been announced. For more information about the games, visit www.MesquiteSeniorGames.org.
