Review: Manitoba Harvest Hemp Pro70 Protein Powder

January 12, 2015 By Bonnie Parrish-Kell

Photo of Manitoba Harvest's chocolate-flavored Hemp Pro70 protein powder and a jar of the product mixed in a jar.

During last November’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon expo, I picked up a couple samples of Manitoba Harvest‘s chocolate-flavored hemp-based protein powder. Thought I’d give it a try today for a quick but light lunch (yes, I often drink my lunches!).

Not having a shaker cup handy, I opted to use an empty 16-ounce glass bottle with cap. Poured in the packet’s contents, added about a cup of unsweetened organic Soy Dream soy milk, and gave it a shake. The results? A chocolate milk-type drink but without the usual sugary sweetness and with the same type of consistency. Some of the powder remained at the bottom so I had to use a skinny spoon to stir it up.

I liked the flavor, its easy texture, and would use it again but as an ingredient in a regular smoothie. The 15-gram package is 130 calories, 14 grams of protein (from hemp), and 7 grams of sugar (from organic coconut). These nutrition facts do not include your dairy or non-dairy beverage of choice.

Give it a try and let me know what you think.
