It’s also true that some people will be critical of your efforts to improve your health or fitness. I’ve experienced that several times during the last few years, and I’ve let those words hurt me, dash some of my enthusiasm, or make me angry.
But I have to remind myself that:
1) they won’t be paying my health care costs down the road,
2) they have their own issues to deal with,
3) it’s my life to live and enjoy!
I may still get upset (because I’m human) but I’ve to be the captain of my inner cheerleading squad and to only associate (or as much as possible) with positive, caring folks who help each other enjoy sports and life.
So let’s continue doing the things we enjoy doing whether it’s walking, cycling, swimming, or even gardening* and be happy.
* Gardening is not a sport but it’s an excellent way of getting fit. Don’t believe me? Try spending an afternoon weeding, watering, hoeing, planting, raking leaves, or repairing irrigation systems!
